Summary
After discovering extraterrestrial life on Mars, a 6-member space crew begin their research experiments to understand this new organism. However, this rapidly developing creature becomes more than what the team bargained for - and much more horrifying.

If you want to watch a good sci-fi suspense movie where you’ll be left checking over every corner, then you’ll enjoy the film! As much as I tried to do this review without spoilers, there are a couple comments I can’t leave out even though they might be considered spoilery for others. From this point on, you’ve been warned!
What I loved!
So, I went into this movie completely blind. I had no idea that I was signing up for a rollercoaster of emotions that would leave me speechless. I would say this is the best way to go into the movie.
When you see Ryan Reynolds, I automatically thought this is going to be a little bit funny, we’ll save some life on Mars, and everything will be fine. This is indeed NOT what happened. The suspense of it all was what made this movie soar. The “not knowing” but hoping for the best is exactly what kept the momentum going.
The acting was also worth noting. Rebecca Ferguson gives another heartfelt performance. Her character has to deal with the responsibility of knowledge and this follows through all the way until the end of the film.
I will say that at the end of the movie, my family and I had great in-depth discussions. What we would have done, how we would have handled the situation differently, and what would happen if this took place in real life.
What I didn’t like!
There were some pacing issues throughout the film that I think could have been addressed throughout the beginning.
It’s hard to talk about my dislikes without giving spoilers, so I’ll be vague. I would have loved it if we spent a little bit more time on the backstories of each of the characters. The information we’re given is good, but some characters ended up being more important than others which left me wanting to know more.
I found this movie to be quite interesting and it is an overall good sci-fi flick. There isn’t much to talk about in this section, it’s just that good.
Verdict: I watched it and maybe you should too!
Let me say that this is a suspense/thriller type film which is a little different from my previous reviews. With that being said, if you do decide to watch this movie don’t do it alone or in the dark! Another spoiler here - this is not a happily ever after movie, you will more than likely come out of it feeling a bit on edge.
